COME OUT TO THE RIVER

April’s Fools!

We all get a little giddy during April. So far this Spring the weather has been just stunning - with no signs of stopping. Traditionally we will have a week of weather in the 85+ temperatures and it throws us all for a loop! Out come the swim suits (or not!) and we all go to work on our tans.

The month starts and finishes with wine events… See the Events page for more (seems like every one and their wine-making dog is doing something at their winery for spring).

4/12 "Hats & High Heels Bingo" benefits Friends Outside. Show your class at Bingo with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence here in Guerneville at the Oddfellows Hall (where else?). Doors open at 6, bingo at 7, be there by 5:30 or you won't get in! Seriously, almost every month they turn folks away because they sell out.

There are a couple of festivals as well…

The Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Festival is on the 12th and 13th.

Apple Blossom Festival is the 26th and 27th. Join our wacky new-age neighbors in Sebastopol celebrating apples in a grape world.

There are also plant sales, garden tours and lots more fun… See you OUT at the River!

UPCOMING EVENTS

Food & wine festivals, local organic farmer's markets, winery events, Lazy Bear every August, Jazz festival every September, Bingo with the Sisters every month...

We can't begin to list them all and we each have so many favorites we just bicker when we try to pick the top 3... so we won't. Look at the Calendar page for details on all the fun you'd miss if you don't come OUT to the River this Spring!

Wilderness... we've got it! Hiking, kayaking (lessons available for kayak virgins), golfing, horseback riding, canoeing, trail walks, birding and cycling for all you athletes.

Civilization (well close to)... farmer's markets, massages & spa treatments, wine tasting, comedy club nights, pub crawls, fantastic restaurants, karaoke and sunbathing. We'll keep you as busy as you want to be. Maybe busier!

Check out the Calendar page for all the details.

SONOMA COUNTY'S GAY PLAYGROUND

The Russian River is the West Coast's favorite LGBT playground. Situated in the heart of Western Sonoma County, this string of offbeat river villages attracts thousands of LGBT visitors every year for a wide range of activities and fun.

Enjoy new experiences every time you visit. Gorgeous dry, sunny days dominate May - September, perfect for sunning by a pool with your friends or canoeing down the River. You can go biking, hiking and wine-tasting during the day, and every evening there is something happening at the bars & clubs.

Or you can decide to nothing at all and relax after dinner to the sound of the wind in the redwoods.

Boasting over 250 of the world's most award-winning wineries, 76 miles of scenic coastline, pristine beaches, the mystical Russian River and majestic redwoods, Sonoma County is uniquely experienced with the Russian River as your home base.

The River offers all types of gay and gay-friendly accommodations from resorts and inns to camping under a canopy of brilliant stars. Local restaurants range from simple taquerias and burger joints to four star restaurants. Special weekends feature jazz, wine, women, leather and bears.

Guerneville is the focus of the area's gay nightlife - one of the few resort towns in the country where you can proudly walk down Main Street day or night.

Whether visiting for a weekend, a week or longer, you won't find any other getaway that matches the Russian River's unique and spectacular natural beauty, combined with friendly businesses and residents who genuinely appreciate diversity.

Come out to the River and see why so many people return year after year.
